Wolakota Buffalo Range

Wolakota Buffalo Range is a 28,000-acre bison ranch on the land of the Sicangu Lakota Oyate (or Rosebud Reservation) in southcentral South Dakota. The bison restoration project was established in 2020 and home to the largest Native-managed bison herd in the world. The project is managed for ecological and social outcomes and utilizes planned rotational grazing. Wolakota has environmental consulting partners who conduct intensive and ongoing measures of soil and ecological health and have documented measurable positive outcomes in just a few years of reintroducing the bison.
